James I (James VI Of Scotland)       James I (1566-1625)       King Of England (1603-1625)       He was the son of the Catholic, Mary Queen Of Scots, and Henry Stuart, also known as Lord Darnley, her second husband, both of whom were descendants of King Henry VII Of England.        He authorized the publication under his patronage of the authorized or King James Version of the  Bible in 1611. Edward VI (1537-1553) King Of England (1547-1553) He was the son of Henry VIII  and Jane Seymour He helped to establish new schools notably the famous schools for London boys and girls called Christ's Hospital. 21. Queen Mary I (1516-1558) Queen Of England (1553-1558) She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine Of Aragon. The reign of her brother, King Edward VI did strike Princess Mary from her Catholicism or self reliance. When the young King died, the Duke Of  Northumberland tried to prevent Mary's succession by declaring Lady Jane Grey queen. However, the attempt failed and Mary came to the throne in 1553. She was nicknamed bloody Mary because of  the heavy persecution she enacted and encouraged during her reign against those who denounced Catholicism. 22.
