24. James I (James VI Of Scotland)
James I (1566-1625)
King Of England (1603-1625)
He was the son of the Catholic, Mary Queen Of Scots, and Henry Stuart, also known as Lord Darnley, her second husband, both of whom were descendants of King Henry VII Of England.
He authorized the publication under his patronage of the authorized or King James Version of the Bible in 1611. He desired to unite Scotland and England.

He was the son of James I and Anne, daughter of Frederick II, King Of Denmark. He was tried and executed before a high court of justice comprising of 135 members. He was adjudged guilty of treason and executed on January 30, 1649.
1649-1660
From 1649 to 1660, there was a short period of military regime led by Lord Protector, Oliver Cromwell. But after his death, he had no successor. At this time England was in a state of the common wealth. In 1660, however, the drift towards chaos was checked and the new constitution parliament inevitably recalled Charles I’s son from exile.
