A Trip down Memory Lane!
My, my, I love history. I have a knack for researching about the past and curious to know what happened before to bring us to the present. What really happened to the Assyrian empire? How did the Babylonians become world power in the era of B.C? How did the Medes and the Persians take over and subdue Babylon? Then the Greeks came with their mighty warrior Alexander The Great who conquered Europe and Asia! And of course the Romans who conquered the world and even Israel. What led to the fall of the Roman Empire? The role of the Germanic tribes in the Roman defeat. And then the Danes and the Vikings came along and forever changed history! Then the reign of the British monarchs are my most favorite part of European history. I was so intrigued by this genealogy that I did an in-depth research and study of all the British kings and queens that have ruled from time immemorial up until the present Queen Elizabeth II. A very interesting study and time I had while embarking upon that journey. Not to also mention my favorite Queen in history, Mary Queen of Scots whose heartbreaking story is one we are going to read about on this blog. Furthermore, I was curious about the lost tribes of Isreal. And so I went on to do a study about what happened to them and I made a shocking discovery. The Ibo tribe in Nigeria are descendants of three of the lost tribes of Israel! Could it then be that the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa closely resembles the Nazi attacks on the Jewish people which led to the execution of six million Jews in concentration camps across Europe during World War II led by Adolf Hitler? At the beginning of his Nazi party campaign, he believed that the Germans were a superior race to everyone and that Jews especially living in Germany at the time were responsible for the problems that gripped Germany. At the time, about 1929, Germany’s economy had become very difficult. Poverty and unemployment was rising by the minute, and with it anti-Semitism grew rapidly. Now, could history be repeating itself with the recent attacks in South-Africa with South Africans blaming Nigerian Ibos for taking their businesses and women away from them? That’s food for thought. Well, the list goes on and on, and right here on this blog, I am going to take you down memory and history lane, and perhaps as we read about the things and situations of the past we will be able to understand better the present and walk towards the future with greater clarity and understanding.
